Job Description
Job Title: Physician Assistant General Surgery
Location: Onsite Antioch CA US
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: As per Exp.
Under the direction of a supervising physician the Physician Assistant provides highquality efficient teambased patientfocused care. Responsibilities may include managing patients in the office hospital emergency department (ED) and/or perioperative settings. The Physician Assistant may be required to First Assist in the operating room (OR) or perform other departmentspecific procedures. They may also facilitate oncall responsibilities for their supervising physician. Daily responsibilities may vary based on department needs and may require evening or weekend hours.
Essential Responsibilities:- Practice as part of a team under the direction of the supervising physician.
- Primary Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and compile patient medical data including health history and physical examination results.
- Administer or order diagnostic tests (e.g. imaging studies electrocardiograms lab tests) and interpret results.
- Perform therapeutic procedures (e.g. injections immunizations suturing wound care and infection management).
- Develop and implement patient management plans record progress notes and assist in providing continuity of care.
- Educate and counsel patients on compliance with prescribed treatments health maintenance and other relevant topics.
- Additional Duties (Based on Specialty):
- Facilitate admissions transfers and discharges.
- First assist in surgeries or perform other procedures as needed.
- Round on inpatients and perform admission evaluations.
- Provide patient and family education on preoperative/preprocedure care.
- Assist in surgical procedures perioperative care and postoperative management.
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate from an ARCPA accredited physician assistant program.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Physician Assistant License (California) required at hire.
- Physician Assistant National Certificate required at hire.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Additional Requirements:
- Fluoroscopy Permit (required for Orthopedics Interventional Radiology and Radiation Oncology within 18 months of hire).
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- OR experience as a First Assist is a nonnegotiable requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a multispecialty OR setting is a plus.
- OR Surgical First Assistant.
- Variable work schedule (40 hours every two weeks) with potential night weekend and holiday shifts at Antioch Medical Center.

- PAC licensure (Physician AssistantCertified).
- Experience working with various services and physicians in the OR setting.
- This position does not offer flexible work hours.
