Disease Intervention Specialist 1

This contractor will work as a Disease Intervention Specialist/Public Health Rep 4 alongside existing STI staff to ensure interviews partner services testing and retesting of patients and partners are conducted and ensure case is treated appropriately particularly among priority populations such as women of reproductive age with rise in congenital syphilis cases and men who have sex with men. STI rates have increased year over year for the last five years in TN including particularly concerning increases in gonorrhea (74%) syphilis (62%) and congenital syphilis (>300%). These increases in STI illnesses have increased the need for staff to conduct quality STI investigation and partner services in our regional and local health departments. This position is requested to assist the MCR STI staff with such activities to prevent and control infectious disease. This contractor would be expected to complete the minimum trainings required of a DIS 1 within their first 6 months of employment and should specifically complete the online modules for Passport to Partner Services prior to conducting partner services activities. Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in social work or other related field. Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying fulltime professional health program field experience as a disease specialist that has completed ISTDI or Passport to Partner Services DIS training that involves investigation prevention or treatment of individuals with communicable diseases may be substituted for the required education on a yearforyear basis to a maximum of four years.
Other Requirements: Necessary Special Qualifications: A valid motor vehicle operators license is required. Examination Method: Education and Experience 100% for Preferred Service positions.
