Senior Software Engineer

Northwest Talent Solutions is a leading Technology Finance and Healthcare staffing/recruiting and HR/DEI consulting firm partnering with outstanding clients within the private industry and public sector. Currently we are partnered with a preferred client in Boston MA in search of a highly talented Senior Software Engineer.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Frontoffice Engineering organization you will work closely with Quantitative Researchers and Portfolio Managers. Your challenges will be varied and may include onboarding new datasets implementing new trading signals developing portfolio optimization tools building data visualization frameworks enhancing research platforms and performance tuning existing code using efficient numerical algorithms and clustercomputing solutions.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop missioncritical production systems for quantitative applications
• Work with large datasets both structured and unstructured
• Implement and optimize trading signals and portfolio tools
• Enhance and maintain research platforms
• Collaborate with Quantitative Researchers and Portfolio Managers
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and best practices

Qualifications:

I. Education:

• Degree with high mathematical and computing content (e.g. Computer Science Mathematics Engineering or Physics)
• Strong academic record

II. Experience:

• 57 years of professional experience in software engineering preferably with a focus on quantitative applications
• Experience developing missioncritical production systems
• Demonstrated experience working with large data sets

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Expert knowledge of Python and Pandas
• Proficiency with scientific libraries including NumPy SciPy statsmodels and scikitlearn
• Strong Linux skills and understanding of Git
• Working knowledge of database technologies like MS SQL Postgres or MongoDB
• Experience with distributed computing technologies (e.g. Spark Dask Kubernetes) is a plus
• Knowledge of financial markets and instruments is advantageous
• Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
