Head of Collections
Commercial Collections
Sydney CBD based
up to $160k super



About the client

Our client is an innovative fintech carving out a niche in solving financial challenges within trade finance and commercial finance. They provide both secured and unsecured financial products to their clients to support them in managing their cashflows.

They are looking for a Collections Manager to join their fun and dynamic team in Sydney.

The role:

The roles is responsible for overseeing the collections department ensuring the timely recovery of outstanding debts and developing strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the collections process. You will also be responsible for reporting the results of the loan book to management and identifying any risks or concerns.

You will manage the Collections team setting performance targets and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Roles and responsibilities:
  • Setting policies and processes for the Collections team
  • Manage a small team of Collectors including recruiting mentoring and managing a highperforming team of collectors in Sydney and overseas.
  • Manage the IT systems and processes used including Implementing technologies to improve the automation productivity and efficiency of debt collections.
  • Handson in negotiating commercial outcomes of accounts in recovery to ensure the best possible commercial outcome for the business.
  • Communicate back to the business common issues that are coming up in Collections so that the product and terms can be improved.
  • Proactive reporting of commercial KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation impacting the Collections team
The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
  • 5 years’ experience in a Senior Collections role with some of that time working in Commercial Collections.
  • Late stage and legal recoveries experience especially strong commercial negotiating experience and having the authority to make key decisions in settling debt.
  • A passion for delivering great customer service and finding solutions to problems.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and compliance regime applicable to Australian debt collections.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with IT solutions used in optimising collections activities.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of operations policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work with crossfunctional areas on projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and influencing skills (written and verbal).
  • Be selfmotivated and driven to be successful but also work effectively in a team environment.
