Tasks

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for mobile robotic systems (wheeled and legged) including chassis sensor mounts drivetrain mechanisms and protective enclosures
• Optimise existing designs for series production taking into account all the relevant constraints and inputs (product requirements industrial design user experience target COGS etc.)
• Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using CAD software (e.g. Fusion360 or Autodesk Inventor)
• Work closely with engineers to fabricate and test prototypes ensuring mechanical designs meet performance durability and safety requirements
• Perform stress analysis weight optimization and durability testing to improve the performance and reliability of mechanical designs
• Work closely with electrical and software teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical electrical and control systems
• Create and maintain detailed design documentation including drawings part specifications and bills of materials (BOMs)

Requirements

• Completed degree in mechanical engineering robotics electrical engineering robotics or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience working on robotics systems mobile machinery or similar products
• Proven experience designing complex mechanical systems and solid knowledge of robot kinematics mechanical and electrical components and the integration of these components into a robotics system
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques to ensure manufacturability for mid and high volume manufacturing
• Ideally you have already completed a full product lifecycle with another hardware product and have a deep understanding of the design process as well as a passion for getting handson building and troubleshooting prototypes
• Experience with relevant CAD programmes (particularly Autodesk Fusion / Eagle)
• Proven experience working with suppliers and designing hardware products for manufacturing
