Job Description

56 months contract with a Local Authority

Job Summary:

These applicants will receive requests for statutory EHC Needs assessments and support the process of assessment and development of EHC Plans.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

To administer statutory assessment procedures for children and young people with education health and care needs under the terms of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice 2014.

To have a frontline function and take responsibility for liaising closely with parents schools and other professionals in order to manage the complex process of carrying out EHC assessments of children and young people from birth to 25 years.

To coproduce EHC Plans with families keeping the child/young person at the centre of a personcentred approach and always having regard to the voice of the child/young person and the aspirations of the family.

To ensure that all practices and procedures are followed appropriately so that the SEN Section provides an efficient and effective service

To be responsible for administering maintaining and monitoring a specific caseload of children and young people with special educational health and care needs.

To be responsible for all aspects of statutory assessments for Education Health and Care Plans

To provide a frontline service including team email and telephone response on Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment and monitoring services to parents children young people educational establishments and other agencies.

Essential Experience Required:

Experience of SEN and in writing plans is essential.

Experience of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the associated SEND Code of Practice is essential.

Experience of working with a range of partners including parents carers families and schools is essential.

Experience of working with of other legislation relating to children and young people and those with SEND is essential.

Essential Qualification Required:

General level of education qualification is essential.

Additional information to note:

Working hours: 35 hours per week

DBS Enhanced check is required for the role.
