The role of System Engineer for WDAC (Windows Defender Application Control) Deployment primarily involves managing and coordinating the deployment of Microsoft Defender Application Control across approximately 1700 enduser machines which include both laptops and desktops. The position is critical in ensuring a smooth and efficient rollout with minimal disruption to users. Heres a breakdown of the key responsibilities and skills required for the role:
Key Responsibilities:

Phased Rollout Coordination:
- Lead and oversee the systematic phased deployment of WDAC to ensure that all 1700 machines receive the update in a timely and efficient manner.
- Act as the primary coordinator for the rollout process ensuring that all relevant schedules deadlines and milestones are met.

PointofContact for Issue Reporting and Resolution:
- Serve as the main contact for endusers and other stakeholders during the rollout.
- Be the goto resource for addressing and resolving issues that arise during the deployment.
- Provide clear communication to ensure that any problems are handled quickly and with minimal user disruption.

Problem Troubleshooting:
- Have the technical knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with Microsoft Defender Application Control.
- Identify root causes of problems and take appropriate corrective actions to ensure continuous deployment without unnecessary delays.

Tools Training and Procedures:
- Utilize the tools training and procedures provided by SJI (the organization or vendor overseeing the rollout) to handle any challenges that arise.
- Follow established protocols to ensure that any impact on users is minimized.
- Ensure that you are wellversed in the tools provided for WDAC deployment including deployment scripts dashboards or any automated deployment systems.

User Impact Minimization:
- Proactively plan and execute strategies to minimize the impact of the rollout on users ensuring that their machines remain operational throughout the deployment.
- Work with other departments such as IT or support teams to communicate rollout schedules and provide instructions to users.

Reporting:
- Regularly update key stakeholders on the progress of the deployment including status reports issues encountered and resolutions implemented.
- Provide detailed documentation of the rollout process including troubleshooting steps and best practices learned during deployment.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Technical Proficiency in WDAC: Must have handson experience with Microsoft Defender Application Control including its configuration deployment and troubleshooting.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to coordinate largescale rollouts ensuring that timelines and goals are achieved.
- ProblemSolving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to identify diagnose and resolve technical issues that arise during deployment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to act as a liaison between the technical team endusers and management.
- User Support: Experience providing enduser support and minimizing impact during system changes or software rollouts.
