The Corporate Health & Safety Team works as part a larger team within the Council Health and Safety Unit (CH&SU) The Health & Safety Team provides a customer focused Health and Safety Service to the Corporate body of the Council and its departments various teams and premises across the Council as well as schools and schools based services You will be responsible for ensuring the provision of advice and training on a wide range of health safety and welfare issues to teams premises managers schools in the Borough and services provided to them. Key to the role will the responsibility for health and safety audits delivering training together with providing support on matters of health and safety and acting as a safety consultant on a broad range of issues. Candidate requirements: A NEBOSH DIPLOMA or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent qualification) and be a Chartered or Graduate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. A good knowledge of current and proposed health & safety legislation and codes of practice and the ability to interpret legislation practically for application across the Council will be essential. You will need knowledge and experience of: Proactive health and safety management; Advising on health & safety issues (preferably in the Local Government sector): Be able to deliver Health and safety training; Conducting and managing health & safety audits.
