Resourcery is a professional service provider based in Cape Town providing a wide range of services to clients all around the world including finance marketing analytics and legal support.
For this particular role our client is an investment company with a wide range of businesses in Hospitality and Food & Beverage. The company is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior General Counsel to oversee its legal and compliance functions across all its businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the CEO your duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Leading and managing the legal team providing oversight and guidance on all legal matters
Drafting reviewing and negotiating contracts agreements and other legal documents
Ensuring compliance with applicable laws regulations and governance requirements including international laws (e.g. UK regulations)
Advising senior management on legal risks opportunities and regulatory developments
Managing disputes litigation and external counsel relationships when necessary
Developing and implementing company policies to mitigate legal risks and ensure business continuity
Supporting the company s corporate governance framework including board resolutions shareholder meetings and regulatory filings
Collaborating with internal departments including HR operations and finance to ensure legal compliance across all functions.
Qualifications and Skills
As an ideal candidate you must have the following:
A Bachelor s Degree in Law (LLB) and admission as an attorney or advocate
Minimum 8 10 years of experience in corporate law contract law and regulatory compliance
Experience in managing legal matters for a diverse portfolio of businesses preferably within the hospitality and food & beverage sectors
Indepth knowledge of both local and international legal requirements including governance and compliance for UK entities
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage a legal team and collaborate with various departments
Proficiency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
