Job Description

Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician (Allied)

Location: Rochester New York 14617

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift Type: 8hour Evening Shift

Call Required: Approx. every 3rd weekend (Saturday 8 AM Monday 8 AM)

Job Summary:

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper cleaning sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment used in the operating room (OR) and offsite facilities. This role is vital in maintaining patient safety and supporting the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean disinfect and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness functionality and safety before use.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of instruments and supplies.
  • Assist in ordering and restocking necessary items.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to ensure a sterile environment.
  • Participate in regular training and quality assurance programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
  • Document any incidents or discrepancies as per hospital policies.
  • Work closely with OR staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of instruments.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding equipment needs and issues.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in sterile processing preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Certifications:

  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT or similar) preferred but not required.
