Job Overview
The Wireless LAN Engineer is responsible for the development of standards solution architectures and road maps for TMNAs Wireless Network infrastructure. The solutions are designed to provide predictable and reliable highquality networking solutions throughout North America. This individual will work with business facing teams & users to design appropriate solutions that meet business requirements for network demands across North America locations.
This individual successfully yzes requirements and designs technical solutions for complex problems. This person evaluates technical and economic feasibility of systems solutions (e.g. costs benefits feature/functionality interoperability scalability maintainability etc.) based on the full technology life cycle. The person in this role will support the departments objectives by ensuring the ility and availability of network hardware and software by planning capacity of the Wireless infrastructure for Campus Data Centers and remote sites. The Wireless LAN Engineer collaborates with other network security and domain architects to evaluate and introduce new technology standards.
Key/Primary Responsibilities
- Support a Cisco centric WAN LAN and WLAN environment. This includes routers firewalls security WLAN.
- Own and fulfill small to large strategic or tactical wireless projects. Function as point of escalation for project issues.
- Paired with another junior engineer manage 34 large simultaneous wireless refresh projects per quarter to completion
- Conduct and or coordinate site surveys develop site plans to gain total coverage of facility
- Build BOM coordinate resources track and validate deployment/upgraded equipment/site.
- Supervise and or performing site installs maintenance upgrades or software enhancements to support the network infrastructure needs.
- Function as a point of escalation for operational entities regarding regular or complex issues.
- Monitor system for trouble areas and proactively resolve and doent root cause.
- Work on daily service tickets while engaged on enterprise wireless deployments.
- Strong experience with both centralized and local Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers.
- Strong experience with Cisco Lightweight Access Points.
- Strong understanding of WLAN technologies network management 802.11 b/g/n/ac standards.
- Strong troubleing ss and experience with ysis tools such as Ekahau Wireshark etc.
- Design test and implement new WiFi deployments and upgrades to existing infrastructure
- Engage with manufacturer technical support centers to quickly resolve issues as they arise as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- 8 to 10 years of professional experience.
- Highlevel teaming and communication ss to influence and persuade others.
- Strong written and verbal communication ss with the ability to create and present concepts and recommendations to management.
- Deep understanding of Internet Protocol (IP) addressing and Variable Length Subnet Mask (VLSM).
- Extensive experience with Wireless technologies
- Deep understanding of Local Area Network (LAN) switching technologies including; VXLAN ACI fabric path Spanning Tree Virtual LAN (VLAN) and VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP) concepts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cisco Certified Network ociate (CCNA) or higher certification
- Proficient with scripting technologies including but not limited to Python Bash Perl and JavaScript.
