About the SDSN

The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) was set up in 2012 under the aues of the UN SecretaryGeneral. SDSN mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies multilateral financing institutions the private sector and civil society.

Global Schools mission is to create a world where every primary and secondary school student is equipped with the knowledge values and ss necessary for effectively responding to the greatest challenges of this century and shaping a sustainable and prosperous world. The Global Schools Program has been working internationally to support schools and educators with evidenceinformed training and localized clroom resources to integrate sustainable development into school curricula operations and activities.


About the Project

In partnership with Siemens Energy SDSN will launch Schools for Goal 7. Schools for Goal 7 with Planet Rescuers is a program that trains teachers and students on Energy and Sustainable Development using gamified curricula. The overall vision of the project is to provide practical handson experience to students in engaging with topics such as the energy transition renewable energy climate change and sustainability ensuring youth have the ss and capabilities to build more resilient societies.


About the Role

Global Schools is searching for an Education Consultant to lead the development of curricular materials and teacher training for this program. In addition the Education Consultant will carry out training workshops support in the management of school participants and monitor school and student activities. Also they will support the coordination of a teachers committee that will engage in and contribute to the project.


Responsibilities:

Curricular Outputs and Resource Development

  • Build on Global Schools prior work to create a STEM Activities Guide (2nd edition) for primary and secondary educators that addresses concepts such as the SDGs the energy transition green ss climate sustainable consumption etc.;
  • Review and edit Global Schools SDG7: Clean and Renewable Energy Activities Guide for primary and secondary schools so that it is ready for publication including additional activities and sections where necessary;
  • Design and implement online teacher training with the objective of training 100 educators to integrate SDG7 into teaching and learning and using gamified curriculum from Siemens Energy;
  • Development of pre and postsurveys for the online teacher training program.

Project Management

  • Coordinate and lead a monthly meeting for a 20person educator committee to give feedback on the curricular resources; synthesize feedback from the educator committee and update resources accordingly;
  • Via the Global Schools network recruit at least 100 teachers for participation in online pilot training and administer the training. Send out relevant training materials and instructions; answer questions and provide email support to participating educators; monitor teachers and schools participating in the teacher training program;
  • Promote and showcase program outcomes and/or the launch of curricular resources via the drafting of blogs press releases and the creation of communications ets;
  • Administer developed surveys and yze data to provide inputs to the final outcome report that is compiled by the Global Schools Director;
  • Other project tasks igned by the Global Schools Director as required.


Qualifications

  • Professional fluency in English required; other languages are considered a plus;
  • Degree in education; communications; sustainability; project management; teaching; child development; and/or related field;
  • Exceptional writing communication drafting editing and oral communications ss;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams and time zones;
  • Highly organized with strong project management ss;
  • Prior experience with curriculum development and/or as a teacher/administrator in a primary or secondary school setting;
  • Prior experience engaging with STEM or renewable energy topics in an educational setting considered a plus;
  • Prior experience working with school stakeholders at all levels of curriculum integration including teachers administrators and students;
  • Prior experience organizing and leading workshops for large audiences both online and inperson;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and ability to effectively communicate the mandate of SDSN the Global Schools Program and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to learners of all ages.
