ARQUIMEA Research Center (ARC) part of ARQUIMEA was born in 2019 with the aim of inventing the technologies of tomorrow. An environment of innovation and excellence at European level from which senior and junior researchers from around the world develop disruptive technologies and business models that will serve as an engine of socioeconomic growth in the medium and long term.
We are looking foran Optical Communications Engineer to design develop and optimize advanced optical communication systems for highspeed data transmission.
Tasks to be performed:
- Design and implement freespace optical communication systems including transmitters receivers and optical amplifiers.
- Develop simulation models to predict system performance and optimize design parameters.
- Conduct experimental tests and evaluations to validate system designs and ensure performance standards are met.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to integrate optical components with electronic and software systems.
- Trouble and resolve issues related to optical signal integrity noise and loss.
- Doent design processes test results and technical specifications for future reference and regulatory compliance.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in optical communication technologies and incorporate relevant innovations into projects.
Required qualifications experience and candidate profile:
- MSc or PhD. degree in Physics Engineering or a related field with a specialization in Optical Communications.
- Proficiency in optical communication theory and freespace optics technology.
- Experience with optical modulation techniques and coherent optics.
- Familiarity with optics and photonic components like lasers photodetectors and optical amplifiers as well as beam steering technologies and techniques.
- Strong background in simulation tools such as VPIphotonics OptiSystem or similar.
- Handson experience with optical test equipment like optical spectrum yzers BER testers VNAs and OTDR.
- Understanding of resilience towards optical threats including mitigation strategies for physical layer attacks and system vulnerabilities.
- Knowledge of signal processing algorithms for optical communications.
- Expertise in complementary fields such as quantum communications and satellite communications would be highly valuable.
- Excellent problemsolving ss and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong proficiency in English.
