Position Overview:
The Operations Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Operations. This role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing operations from casting through to the shipping of aluminum products. The Operations Manager will supervise several Lead Area Managers and indirectly manage hundreds of hourly and salaried employees ensuring that safety maintenance engineering and metallurgy departments within operations run efficiently and effectively.
Main Responsibilities Include:
- Provide leadership and serve as a critical interface to translate upper management objectives to the shop floor.
- Engage employees across all organizational levels to develop a culture of ownership and accountability.
- Translate highlevel business objectives into actionable tasks that are understood and implemented on the shop floor.
- Utilize a datadriven approach for decisionmaking ensuring alignment with operational goals.
- Measure results analyze performance data and provide regular feedback for continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of disciplined and Operational Excellence with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Prioritize and determine key focus areas for operations weekly ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Apply problemsolving techniques to maintain operational stability and drive continuous improvements.
- Apply Theory of Constraints to identify and address bottlenecks in the production process.
- Communicate effectively with both upper management and shop floor personnel ensuring clarity and understanding at all levels.
- Collaborate with staff organizations such as finance quality supply chain and environmental health and safety (EHS) translating their needs into actionable tasks.
- Develop longterm strategic plans including CAPEX investments in collaboration with the plant manager supply chain and finance teams.
- Implement and improve standards and processes that enhance visibility of KPIs from shop floor to management.

- Strong knowledge of aluminum manufacturing processes equipment and product flow paths.
- Understanding of companys master labor contract rules and the unionized environment.

- Proven ability to manage and develop talent across all levels of the organization.
- Familiarity with operational and financial metrics and the ability to forecast impacts of operational performance on financial outcomes.
Professional Experience & Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 12 years of manufacturing experience preferably in a heavy industrial setting.
- At least five years of supervisory experience managing both hourly and salaried employees.
- Minimum of five years experience in a unionized environment.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship (ITAR compliance).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in aluminum casting and hot rolling operations.
- Familiarity with Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) system
