The Electron Beam Welder is responsible for setting up and operating electron beam welding machines to join metal pieces in accordance with specifications. This role plays a key part in the production process including assisting in the development of new weld processes and working with various departments to ensure continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup & Operation:
- Set up and operate electron beam welding machines to join metal components according to technical specifications.
- Welding & Process Development:
- Perform production welding and assist in the development of new welding techniques and processes.
- Collaboration with Production Supervisor:
- Work directly with the Production Supervisor to understand and meet customer order expectations.
- Quality Verification:
- Conduct inprocess verification to ensure the quality and accuracy of welding workmanship.
- Issue Reporting:
- Notify the Production Supervisor of any potential challenges in meeting due dates or production deadlines.
- Equipment Monitoring:
- Monitor the condition and performance of welding equipment and report any malfunctions to the Production Supervisor.
- Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) Department to identify and implement process improvements as well as work instructions.
- Corrective Action Resolution:
- Assist the QA Department in addressing and resolving customer corrective actions related to welding quality or performance.
- Inspection Tools:
- Understand and properly use measuring and inspection tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Interpretation of Technical Documents:
- Read and interpret part drawings blueprints and specifications to accurately perform welding tasks.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education:
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with additional technical training preferred.
- Experience:
- 3 years Experience with Electron Beam Welding (EB Welding) or Laser Welding is required.
- Skills:
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with welding equipment and measurement/inspection tools.
- Good communication and problemsolving skills particularly in addressing production challenges and quality assurance.
