To provide a Program Manager. This position is located within the Office of Primary Care and Rural Health (OPCRH). This roles primary function is the Planning and implementation of the Primary Care Training Sites Program; a new program within the Rhode Island Department of Health that seeks to increase the overall clinical training capacity for physicians nurse practitioners and physician assistants statewide.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on the implementation and design of a new program within state government. Successful candidates will demonstrate experience leading the endtoend of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Drive implementation plans and timelines.
- Aide in procurement and budgeting and leading activities associated with the overall management and evaluation of a public service program.
- Responsible for following national and state legislation related to the healthcare workforce interpreting their provisions concerning their effect on the financing of programs and the development of new programs within the Department of Health.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Primary Care Training Site Program.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with multiple units within the Department of Health state leaders health professionals and executives and community partners about the administration of the program.
- Assist in the development of rules and regulations.
- Coordinate and monitor subcontracts or grants.
- Create technical reports for the general assembly and other entities about the performance of the program.
- Play a major role in the planning research and design of an application system the criterion for reviewing applications and awarding grants to training sites based on the funding formula.
- Design and plan activities also include identifying and developing systems for the collection of key performance measures for evaluation.
- Act as a liaison for the OPCRH and will provide technical assistance as needed to training sites and community partners.
- Develop plans for the expansion of clinical training capacity for physicians nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
- Assist in the administration of programs and services in all its activities and projects.
- Ensure the coordination of current health workforce programs within the OPCRH and identify opportunities to advance the alignment and integration of statewide health planning efforts across state programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and experience:
- Experience such as may have been gained through employment in a responsible capacity involving program development or program management in a field of human service is required.
- Education such as possession of a masters degree in public administration business administration one of the Social Sciences or a closely related field is preferred; but not required.
- Or any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
- Experience with designing application systems and awarding grants; and understand current trends and issues impacting medical residency programs clinical training and health workforce shortages.
- Successful track record in project management in the public sector.
