Job Information
As a Logistics Manager you will be responsible for controlling cost and supporting continuous improvement within the logistics / transportation for a specific location / location. You will lead a team that will work with external and internal cross functional teams.
Role & Responsibility:
Responsible for making critical daily decisions that have a direct impact on the organization’s profit. These include but are not limited to lowcost carrier selection load utilization and routing.
This position will own financial cost customer expectation and operational support for their location / locations.
Partner with contracted carriers and 3PLs to identify cost and service improvements for both inbound raw materials and outbound FGI.
Own the 3PL relationship as needed on freight movements to and from their site / sites.
Provide support and direction to all other departments when freight moves are required. Tooling expedites etc.
Anticipate and resolve daytoday issues complete root cause failure analysis and take corrective actions.
Develop and review department KPI’s to identify efficiencies and opportunities. Provide reporting as needed. (Daily Weekly Monthly Yearly)
Maintain department SWI’s (Standard Work Instructions).
Review daily workload of staff and ensure adequate resources are available.
Provide leadership in ongoing continuous improvement projects.
Collaborate with other departments to embed efficient and costeffective processes into the site operations.
Achieve and report daily / monthly shipping targets within budget.
Responsible for compliance with applicable D.O.T. rules and regulations
Initiates investigates and resolves all damaged and lost freight claims.
Lead the yearly AOP and LRP process for their location / locations.
Following the AOP and LRP objectives work strategically.
with peers to maximize cost efficiencies and meet customer expectations
Responsible to manage finished goods inventory levels set by the organization.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor's Degree is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics Operations Management Supply Chain Management or related field is preferred.
Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment with an ability to understand the effect of decisions for the company overall.
Must be able to evaluate and measure employee performance and help develop their skills.
Excellent analytical problem solving prioritization and organizational skills.
Will create a positive environment for employees and coworkers and help maintain morale.
Will participate in meetings and will be expected to work weekends holidays long hours when needed.
Assist with daytoday workload within department if required.
Excellent verbal and written communication and people management skills.
Knowledge of logistics transportation and supply chain practices.
Prior experience working with LTL FTL freight LCL FCL freight preferred.
Prior experience with import and export documentation creation/verification preferred.
Experience: 3>5 combined years of materials management and logistics experience.
Travel: <10%.
Working knowledge of ERP TMS and proficient use of Microsoft Software and Applications.
In person from Monday to Friday.
