Company Overview: Our client a leading correctional facility based in Orlando FL dedicated to maintaining a secure and humane environment while enhancing public safety while seeking professional committed individuals with current Florida RN or LPN licenses and relevant experience in emergency or medical nursing to join their team.
Position Summary: We are seeking a qualified candidate who will provide expert mental health assessment and treatment planning for offenders. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience working within the criminal justice system and familiarity with DSMIV or DSM5 diagnostic criteria.
Position Responsibilities:
Assess mental health through observation of verbal and nonverbal cues to accurately diagnose inmates.
Review psychosocial histories and medical charts to evaluate the mental status of incarcerated offenders.
Conduct group and/or individual counseling sessions with offenders experiencing mental health issues.
Offer recommendations regarding treatment classification housing and other related matters.
Provide immediate support and counseling during mental health crises.
Develop and present educational content to offenders about mental health topics.
Prepare detailed case documentation reports and correspondence as required.
Offer training and consultative support to facility staff on mental health matters.
Assist with preparing mental health inmates for release ensuring continuity of care.
Engage actively as a member of the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
Perform other related tasks as assigned to support the facility s mental health services.
Possesses the Ability to:
Conduct thorough and accurate mental health assessments and diagnoses.
Implement effective counseling and therapeutic interventions.
Provide crisis intervention and support in highpressure situations.
Prepare and present educational and training materials clearly and effectively.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and correctional staff.
Maintain accurate and detailed case documentation and reports.
Required Experience and Education:
Master s Degree in Counseling Psychology Social Work or a related field.
Minimum of two years of professional experience providing direct clinical services in a social or mental health setting.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida license as a Clinical Psychologist Psychiatric Nurse Mental Health Counselor or Clinical Social Worker with the ability to Baker Act within three years of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within the criminal justice system.
Familiarity with DSMIV or DSM5 diagnostic criteria.
Knowledge Of:
Mental health assessment and diagnostic techniques specific to incarcerated populations.
Crisis intervention strategies and procedures.
Psychosocial history evaluation and treatment planning.
Psychoeducational strategies and material preparation.
Relevant mental health regulations and standards within correctional settings.
DSMIV or DSM5 diagnostic criteria and application.
