Senior Database Administrator PostgreSQL Redis

This is a remote position.

• Assist in the design and architecture of PostgreSQL databases and Redis caches in alignment with business and technical needs.
  
• Install configure and manage highly available PostgreSQL databases ensuring optimal performance security and reliability.
  
• Install configure and manage highly available Redis clusters to ensure consistent and efficient data caching and management.
  
• Monitor optimize and troubleshoot database performance making recommendations for improvements in database operations.
  
• Perform upgrades and patching of PostgreSQL and Redis systems to ensure security and functionality are maintained.
  
• Collaborate with the system architecture team to evaluate and recommend tools services and technologies for database administration and management.
  
• Ensure backups replication and recovery processes are reliable and meet business continuity requirements.
  
• Implement and manage database failover mechanisms to ensure minimal downtime and high availability.
  
• Provide expertise in database design including performance tuning indexing and query optimization.
  
• Support database security by implementing access controls monitoring and regular security updates.
  
• Write and maintain documentation for database administration processes and architecture.
  

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  
• 5 years of experience in database administration particularly with PostgreSQL and Redis in highly available environments.
  
• Proficient in the installation configuration and management of PostgreSQL databases and Redis clusters on virtual machines or containerized environments such as OpenShift.
  
• Strong knowledge of high availability (HA) solutions replication failover and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL and Redis.
  
• Experience with database performance tuning indexing and optimization techniques.
  
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS Azure etc.) and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  
• Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
  
• Strong understanding of security best practices for database management.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with OpenShift container platforms or other Kubernetesbased environments.
  
• Certification in PostgreSQL or Redis administration.
  
• Familiarity with other database systems (e.g. MySQL MongoDB) and caching solutions.
  
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation.
  
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
  
  

Preffered Experience:

• Work with virtual machines and OpenShift platforms.: 1 year (Required)
  
• PostgreSQL databases: 5 years (Required)
