Job Description: The Director of Sustainability will be responsible for developing implementing and managing the companys sustainability strategy. This role involves working closely with senior leadership to integrate sustainability goals into the companys business practices and ensuring that our environmental and social responsibilities are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with the companys goals and industry standards. Identify and set sustainability targets and metrics.
Program Management: Oversee the implementation of sustainability programs and initiatives. Monitor progress and performance against sustainability targets and ensure continuous improvement.
Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards. Prepare and present sustainability reports to stakeholders including annual sustainability reports and disclosures.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams including operations marketing and finance to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the business. Engage with external stakeholders including customers suppliers and community organizations.
Innovation and Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry trends emerging technologies and best practices in sustainability. Propose innovative solutions and practices to enhance the companys sustainability performance.
Education and Advocacy: Lead training and awareness programs to educate employees about sustainability practices and foster a culture of environmental responsibility within the organization.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Sustainability Business Administration or a related field. Masters degree or relevant certification (e.g. LEED AP CEM) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 710 years of experience in sustainability environmental management or related fields with at least 35 years in a leadership role.
Skills: Strong understanding of sustainability principles regulations and best practices. Proven ability to develop and implement sustainability strategies. Excellent communication leadership and project management skills. Experience with sustainability reporting standards (e.g. GRI SASB TCFD) is a plus.
