The Polestar Govt. Affair and Homologation Manager will be the primary point of contact for all govt. affair and certification / homologation activities in Korea. This position will collaborate closely with global homologation / quality and R&D teams to ensure certification for vehicle parts and affected items EV subsidy and regulatory changes to be complied with legal requirements. You will be responsible for successful product launches by ensuring certification and regulatory fulfillment on all homologationrelated aspects. Furthermore you will be challenged to monitor regulatory changes in Korea and report to HQ for heads up in advance so that upcoming changes can be reflected in the new models properly.

What youll do

Product Certification / Homologation:

  • Obtain certification of vehicle parts accessories and affected items by fulfilling requirements with related data and document according to the local regulations
  • Certification planning / scheduling / DB / data validation
  • Manage related 3rd party agencies for local homologation and liaise with the Global Homologation Team to achieve product certification / homologation requirements
  • Collaborate with related departments on preconditions for sales (i.e. labels owner manuals)
  • Coordinate and optimize safety ratings for new Polestar models and variants working with APAC Product Planning Global Polestar Safety Centres and the Korean New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP) vehicle safety authority

Govt. Affair:

  • Monitor regulatory changes in local market and report to HQ for heads up
  • Coordinate with the KAIDA/ECCK to react on the changes in regulation and legislation properly
  • Lead agency partner relationships to drive the processoriented thoughtful work that meets overall objectives.
  • Representing and proposing opinions to improve related regulations to relevant government ministries.
  • Regulatory risk assessment upon regulation draft/promulgation relevance to Polestar Koreas business.
  • Establishing relationship with ministries and affiliated public institutions.
  • Strong collaboration and coordination with regional and global teams
  • Direct communication with authorities if necessary.

Who you are

You are driven committed with proven experience in government affair and certification / homologation in the automotive industry. A solid understanding of automotive engineering and Korean regulation is must. Bachelors Degree (Engineering preferred). Masters Degree and global experience is a plus.

  • Must be passionate and enthusiastic about sustainability and electric vehicles
  • Strong and proven leadership experience in government affair and certification / homologation
  • Extensive knowledge of details for certification / homologation with respective ministries and affiliated public institutions
  • Process oriented way of working
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Project lead management and multitasking skills with handson mentality
  • Ability to effectively manage project tasks timelines and communications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills
  • Experience in project planning and managing budgets

    This role will involve regular interstate travel in Korea.

    To be successful in this role you should have a proven track record in a global company structure with regional / local setup. You have a strong strategic mindset as well as operational handson capabilities.
