Job Description

Commodity Buyer

Startup company located in Querétaro is looking for a Commodity Buyer:

  • POSITION SUMMARY:

    The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining an exceptional supply base for assigned products. The foundation of this role includes: developing commodity strategies saving yearoveryear and sourcing new programs.

    Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree is required and preferably a degree related to the supply chain.
  • 5 years of purchasing experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Possibility of international travel.
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Demonstration of highcaliber analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – must be fluent in English
  • Adequate knowledge of MRP and EDI systems
  • He works with a strong sense of urgency responsibility and ownership.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of the PC the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to learn new software.
  • Face challenges with ingenuity; Generate suggestions to improve the work; Presents ideas and information in a way that catches the attention of others.
  • He exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Include the right people in the decisionmaking process make timely decisions.
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Seek qualified suppliers in support of program needs purchase order issuance and management and ongoing supplier monitoring and development.
  • Monitor and analyze key market indices and overall economic conditions to ensure commodities are purchased at competitive prices by conducting cost breakdowns and cost models.
  • Develop and implement an annual budget/savings plan. Provide critical followup and drive the organization to support resourcing projects.
  • Demonstrate and continuously develop a high level of knowledge of products and raw materials. Understand supplier operations as they relate to the business.
  • Participate in program management reviews to support new program launches on time and under budget.
  • Travel to multiple supplier locations (approximately 20 percent) to promote healthy relationships with the supplier base.
  • Professionally solve problems (both internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner.
  • Prepare the documents of the supply board.
  • Monitor and process CN's.
  • Support plant personnel as needed in material disruption situations.
