Monitors patient for adverse reaction and hemodialysis machine for malfunction
Involved in collecting and recording patient's predialysis weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiration rate.
Participates actively in the on-call rota of the department for patient care and admissions. Responds to emergencies to offer medical care and advice on problems related to his/her specialty.
Documents plan of patient management and maintains appropriate records of all patients with accurate, timely legible completion of patients' medical records.
Evaluates new admission and coordinates with Consultant a plan of investigation to establish a diagnosis and a management course and Executes the plan approved by the Consultant.
Explains dialysis procedure and operation of hemodialysis machine to patient before treatment to allay anxieties.
Attends clinics and assess patients and formulating treatment decisions seeking advice from the consultant as appropriate.
Patient Care
Diagnose and treat patients- initiate and monitor treatment of patients.
Informs consultants of changes in medical condition of patients and of relevant action taken.
Evaluates patients as required at the request of attending surgeon.
Follows instructions of consultants for their specific regime for each individual patient.
Prepares all admission papers, clinic exams, history taking sheet, discharge summaries, death reports and special reports on elated patients.
Perform patient care in accordance with approved clinical privileges.
Insertion of central venous dialysis catheters for dialysis patients. Compliance with Medical Ethics
Observes and upholds the patients' rights of security, confidentiality and privacy.
Respect the confidentiality of all matters relating to their employment and other members of staff.
Participation in relevant audit for the department and quality assurance procedures.
19. Shows a pattern of maintaining current personal clinical skills and knowledge by continuing medical education. Other Duties
Conducts daily ward rounds to all inpatients in the department.
Liaises closely with nursing staff and other relevant clinical or administrative staff.
Contributes in verification of the qualification and capabilities of all dialysis personnel as required by the Clinical Director.
Participates in regularly scheduled meeting for the improvement of patient care services and delivery.
Actively participates in Hospital meetings and activities whenever required including CME activities.
Performs other related assignments as requested by the Clinical Director –Nephrology.
