Location: Various locations across Alberta
As a Senior Building Inspector/Lead Building Inspector you will oversee and lead inspection activities to ensure that construction projects comply with local building codes safety regulations and zoning laws. Your role will be vital in maintaining high standards for construction quality and safety within the jurisdiction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of building inspectors providing guidance training and support to ensure effective and accurate inspections.
- Conduct thorough inspections of complex and highprofile construction projects verifying adherence to building codes safety standards and approved plans.
- Review and approve building plans and specifications ensuring they meet all required regulations and standards.
- Resolve complex inspection issues and address significant code violations working closely with contractors architects and engineers.
- Prepare and review detailed inspection reports documentation and compliance records for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with other municipal departments and agencies to facilitate inspections and address any crossdepartmental issues.
- Stay current with changes in building codes regulations and industry best practices and incorporate this knowledge into inspection practices and team training.
- Act as a liaison between the public construction professionals and municipal officials to address concerns and provide expert advice on buildingrelated matters
Requirements
- Relevant certification or diploma in Building Inspection Construction Management or a related field.
- Extensive experience as a building inspector or in a similar role with proven expertise in conducting inspections and managing complex cases.
- Indepth knowledge of local building codes zoning regulations and safety standards.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring a team of inspectors.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills for addressing complex inspection issues.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with various stakeholders and providing clear guidance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple inspections and maintain detailed records.
