The Controller Europe & Canada is responsible for all finance and accounting of European & Canadian businesses including financial reporting financial analysis general and cost accounting budgeting forecasting planning staff development etc. The role will ensure all appropriate work necessary is performed accurately and on time to ensure proper completion of Financial Statements. The Controller Europe & Canada serves as the primary liaison to banks outside auditors and management at the facilities operating under those legal entities.
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company s performance.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
- Provides financial analysis to support manufacturing and distribution operational performance inventory management capital investments and commercial decisions.
- Manages cash flow in multiple currencies and ensures payments are processed on time and accurately.
- Reviews monthly journal entries bank reconciliations and analysis of income statement accounts for missing or miscoded transactions.
- Responsible for weekly monthly quarterly and annual activities as it related to financial information (i.e. audits reports reconciliations etc.)
- Works with external auditors to provide needed information for the annual US GAAP and foreign locations statutory audit(s).
- Ensures adequate training needs are followed through and promotes a fostering work environment to retain employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in accounting/finance or business administration.
- Seven years or more of related experience required.
- Minimum of three years experience as a Controller supporting a multisite business with revenue in excess of 100 million
Bachelor s degree in Business or Engineering 3+ years automotive industry experience, or at least 10 years directly related technical experience in the automotive industry Technical skills and project management skills required Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required Customer relations experience helpful Ability to operate a vehicle and valid driver s licenses required Ability and willingness to travel out- of- town Work performed in an office environment with minimum exposure to unpleasant working conditions
