Job Description
Job Title: Research Associate
Terms: 3Month Contract
Location: Machakos County
Key Responsibilities:
1. Waste Management:
o Identify waste streams and maintain a waste inventory database for animal units and farms.
o Implement waste management guidelines.
2. Water Quality:
o Manage water sources obtain licenses and ensure compliance.
o Coordinate water/wastewater sampling and analysis.
3. Soil Management:
o Identify potential soil contamination and coordinate mitigation and sampling.
4. Energy Use:
o Monitor energy sources consumption and recommend efficiency improvements.
5. Safety Committee:
o Assist with coordinating safety committee meetings training and inspections.
6. Emergency Preparedness:
o Implement first aid and fire safety guidelines to meet legal requirements.
7. Incident Management:
o Report and investigate incidents maintain a biorisk incident register and assist in developing an incident management plan.
8. Risk Assessment:
o Identify hazards maintain a risk register and implement prevention/mitigation measures.
9. Training & Inductions:
o Develop programs for staff inductions and ongoing health and safety awareness.
10. Plant & Equipment:
Maintain a register for plants and equipment and ensure periodic examinations.
Requirements
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor s in Environmental Science or related field.
Experience: 1 year in Environment Health & Safety.
Skills:
o Meeting organization computer skills (Word PowerPoint Excel).
o Strong attention to detail multitasking and communication skills.
