About Our Client: Our client one of the nation s largest privately held providers of traffic and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) solutions is actively seeking a U.S. military veteran to join their team as a Project Accountant. If you have a background in construction accounting and are eager to work in a dynamic and growing company this is a great opportunity for you.
Position Overview: As a Project Accountant you will be responsible for managing the financials of various projects across multiple locations. You ll work closely with project managers coordinators the Chief Operating Officer and the Senior Finance Analyst to handle forecasting budgeting and cost management. This role requires frequent travel to different office locations within the region with the expectation that you ll be out of the office 13 days per week depending on project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Financial Management: Manage the accounting of several construction projects ensuring all financial aspects are properly documented and monitored.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to forecast and manage project budgets. Support efforts to identify costsaving opportunities and reduce unnecessary expenses.
AccrualBased Billing: Handle accrualbased billing with a focus on subcontractor billing. You will work on projects where our client acts both as a general contractor and a subcontractor.
Cost Management: Help oversee and maintain project cost controls ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely invoicing.
Travel: Visit regional offices to review project finances and collaborate with local teams. This travel will occur as needed up to 13 days per week.
Key Requirements:
Construction Project Accounting Experience: A strong background in operational project accounting within the construction industry is essential.
Subcontractor Billing Expertise: Proven experience managing billing for subcontractors is crucial. This includes knowledge of both general contractor and subcontractor roles.
Cost Accounting & Forecasting: While cost accounting experience and forecasting skills are highly valued they are not required for this role.
Minimum 25 years of experience in project accounting within the construction industry.
Subcontractor management experience particularly in billing.
Willingness to travel regionally for work (up to 13 days per week).
Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze and improve cost management processes.
