Catering Assistant. The Oaks Care Home
- Hourly Rate: £11.49
- Hours: 28.5 per week
- Shifts: Vary between 10 am 6:30 pm
Are you passionate about preparing delicious homecooked meals We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our team at The Oaks Care Home part of the Sandstone Care Group. Located in Newtown Powys our modern purposebuilt care home offers a warm and supportive environment where providing exceptional dining experiences is at the heart of what we do.
Opened in January 2020 The Oaks is a 73bed home with topclass facilities including a coffee shop dining areas and landscaped gardens. We take pride in serving fresh nutritious meals that make a real difference in our residents’ daily lives and we are looking for someone with a passion for food to help us continue this tradition.
As a Catering Assistant you will play a key role in our kitchen team helping to ensure our residents receive fresh homecooked meals made from scratch. Your duties will include:
- Assisting the Chef and catering team in meal preparation.
- Ensuring hygiene and compliance standards are upheld in the kitchen.
- Undertaking any necessary training to enhance your skills.

*Overtime is paid for working over full time hours. However overtime enhancement will not feature on your contract of employment and can be withdrawn at any time as managers decision is final. Free meals are given if working over an 8 hour shift and are subject to terms and conditions. Discounts are accessed using our ‘Reward Me’ app. Flexible pay is available via ‘WAGESTREAM’.
What are we looking for
- Experience as a catering or kitchen assistant (1 year preferred but not essential).
- A Food Hygiene Certificate (ideal but not required – training will be provided).
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
