Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced AS400 Lead to manage and support the AS400/iSeries platform for a support project. The ideal candidate will have handson experience in AS400 systems including RPG CL and DB2/400 and have leadership experience in managing support teams. The AS400 Lead will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation maintenance and troubleshooting of the AS400 environment along with providing guidance and support to junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Support Operations: Lead and manage AS400/iSeries application support activities ensuring high availability and performance of the system.
- Incident & Problem Management: Handle and resolve production issues manage incident reports root cause analysis and propose corrective actions.
- Change Management: Oversee and implement changes in the AS400 environment while adhering to ITIL practices and organizational policies.
- Team Leadership: Guide and mentor a team of AS400 developers and support engineers. Provide training as necessary.
- System Maintenance: Ensure timely patching upgrades and regular maintenance of the AS400 systems including job scheduling batch processing and monitoring.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and uptodate documentation of systems processes and troubleshooting guides for the support team.
- Collaboration: Work closely with crossfunctional teams business analysts and project managers to ensure business requirements are met.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate updates issues and progress to stakeholders regularly. Maintain SLAs and deliverables.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize system performance. Finetune jobs queries and processes to ensure efficient use of system resources.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong handson experience with AS400/iSeries platform
- Proficient in RPG (RPGLE RPG IV) CL (Control Language) and DB2/400
- Familiarity with IBM i (formerly i5/OS or OS/400)
- Knowledge of Job Schedulers and Batch Processing
- Experience with debugging tools (e.g. STRDBG)
- Strong understanding of AS400 security and auditing processes
- ProblemSolving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving abilities in AS400 environments.
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading teams providing mentorship and managing performance.
- ITIL Framework: Familiarity with ITIL concepts and best practices for incident problem and change management.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in support project environments with SLAs and KPIs.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Knowledge of integration tools and APIs connecting AS400 systems with external systems.
- Certification in IBM i Systems Administration or ITIL certification is a plus.
