Job Description

ME Medical Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Radiation Oncologist for a full time permanent role.

Preference is to have a fulltime locally trained Consultant. However consideration may be given to those overseas specialists that have a substantially comparable outcome from the college.

Ideally a locally trained consultant would relocate to Darwin however there may be an opportunity to fly in out flexibility.

RADIATION ONCOLOGIST (Fulltime)

A vacancy exists for a fulltime Staff Radiation Oncologist at NT Radiation Oncology Darwin Northern Territory. We are also proud to announce an appointment opportunity with the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy and Research (ABC) project team for the successful candidate.


About Northern Territory Radiation Oncology (NTRO)

Northern Territory Radiation Oncology (NTRO) is the sole provider of radiation oncology care in the Northern Territory. NTRO is equipped with two Elekta Linacs Monaco TPS Mosaiq OIS and a Toshiba CT. Our treatment techniques include IGRT IMRT VMAT DIBH SABR and SRS.

NTRO is part of the multidisciplinary team at the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre (AWCCC) within the Royal Darwin Hospital. AWCCC is an accredited RANZCR training site of the RANZCR SA/NT Network. It has long established collaborative links to the Royal Adelaide Hospital and other major hospitals in South Australia for professional development and peer to peer collaboration.

NTRO clinical team is participating in the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy in collaboration with SA Health in a comprehensive cancer collaborative for clinical and transitional research opportunities. This position creates an opportunity for a suitable candidate to be formally appointed and allocated time to participate in the training and research program at the ABC. The position could be crafted to suit oncologists at all stages of their career.

Our team is recognised nationally for its achievement in improving the cancer outcomes of Indigenous Australians. We work closely with Charles Darwin University and the Menzies School of Health Research on educational programs and research.

The significant collaboration and regular meetings with the team in the RAH department of Radiation Oncology provides mentorship and excellent clinical support. In addition the unique engagement with the ABC is an exciting opportunity to be part of the national proton therapy project.

Requirements

Job Criteria

Demonstrated appropriate clinical management research and teaching skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary setting.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with modern Radiotherapy techniques including IMRT IGRT VMAT DIBH SBRT and SRS.

Demonstrated effective communication skills.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in safety and quality improvement

Essential Requirements

MBBS (or equivalent) and FRANZCR

AHPRA Registration with the National Medical Board of Australia
