Shirley Avenue Dental Surgery is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Dental Hygienist to join our friendly and professional team. As a key member of our dental care team you will play a vital role in helping patients maintain their oral health and hygiene while delivering exceptional patient care in a welcoming environment.
The Dental Hygienist will be responsible for providing preventative dental care educating patients on the best practices for maintaining oral health and supporting the overall goals of the dental practice. You will work closely with our dentists to ensure a smooth patient experience and highquality clinical outcomes.
Perform thorough dental cleaning scaling and polishing to remove plaque tartar and stains from teeth.
Conduct patient assessments and provide advice on oral hygiene brushing techniques and preventive dental care.
Take and interpret dental radiographs (xrays) as required.
Administer local anaesthesia as needed and perform treatments like root planing for patients with periodontal disease.
Identify signs of oral diseases including gingivitis and periodontitis and refer patients to the dentist for further evaluation.
Keep accurate patient records and update treatment plans in compliance with practice standards and regulations.
Build positive relationships with patients to encourage regular dental visits and proper oral hygiene routines.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure all equipment is sterilised according to health and safety guidelines.
Support the dental team in providing a seamless patient journey from initial consultation to followup care.
A recognised qualification in Dental Hygiene and current registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
Previous experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a dental practice is highly desirable.
Excellent clinical skills with a strong attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to educate and engage patients in maintaining their oral health.
Uptodate knowledge of dental hygiene treatments techniques and best practices.
Compassionate patientfocused approach to care with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Familiarity with dental software and the ability to maintain accurate records.
