The Role
This role carries out the estimating function for main contractor projects across various industries procurement strategies and contract types. It ensures that accurate estimates are prepared from bills of quantities specifications and drawings in accordance with given deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse the tender documentation to identify the scope of works involved and the subpackages and materials to be sent out for enquiry;
- Reviewing tender information and compiling trade specific packages for the supply chain to price;
- Produce tradespecific quantified Bills of Quantities to assist the supply chain pricing;
- Manage and answer Tender Queries and liaise with the pricing supply chain to assist with their concerns;
- Producing Detailed Pricing Schedules for the bid submission;
- Assess and adjudicate subcontractor returns checking for completeness accuracy liability risk price fixity etc;
- Produce a set of pricing notes to mitigate our risk and clarify the basis
Requirements
The ideal candidate
- With at least 10 years of estimating experience and having ability and experience in estimating jobs north of 25m and able to work alone on tenders. The ideal candidate will hold a Quantity Surveying or Estimatingrelated degree/qualification and be able to demonstrate the following skill set:
- Determination to excel within the role and execute responsibilities with due care & diligence and attention to detail;
- Technically familiar and cost aware with an extensive knowledge of construction materials and products and labour;
- Ability to understand and question the tender documentation;
- IT literate familiar with MS Office products as well as proprietary estimating software (e.g. Conquest Causeway or CCS);
- Commercially aware and able to Identify commercial risk & opportunity;
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral with the ability to liaise with colleagues and clients;
