Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse you will provide comprehensive care to expectant mothers before during and after childbirth. You will work closely with obstetricians midwives and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both the mother and newborn. Your role involves monitoring labor progress administering medications and offering emotional support to patients and their families throughout the childbirth process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess the physical and emotional needs of laboring patients.
- Provide direct care during labor including administering medications and interventions as ordered.
- Assist with delivery and perform necessary procedures in collaboration with the obstetric team.
- Educate patients and families about childbirth breastfeeding and postpartum care.
- Document and maintain accurate patient records and reports.
- Respond to emergencies and manage complications with a calm and effective approach.
- Support and advocate for patients preferences and birth plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal care and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience in labor and delivery maternalchild health or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of labor and delivery processes and emergency protocols.
- Excellent communication critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Compassionate and patientcentered approach to care.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNCOB).
- Experience with highrisk pregnancies and neonatal care.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
