About Caferwa Ltd:

CAFERWA SARL a specialty coffee exporting company began operations in 1995. Despite a temporary halt in 1998 due to a global coffee crisis Caferwa resumed in 2003 with a renewed focus on quality. Today Caferwa Ltd is renowned for its specialty coffee from the Kivu Belt forging key partnerships with international buyers. The company promotes its unique coffee through its franchised KN Cafe aimed at expanding the knowledge and awareness of Kivu Belt specialty coffee.

About the role

The Operations Manager for Caferwa Ltd will be responsible for ensuring the seamless and efficient running of all departments including overseeing internal and external communications HR processes and ensuring that quality coffee products and services are delivered. This role acts as the key link between departments and external partners ensuring that operational procedures are followed to support the company in achieving its objectives. The Operations Manager will also shadow the Managing Director in the MDs absence ensuring the continuity of operations across the company. The Operations Manager will manage the daytoday operations of Caferwa Ltd including overseeing the coffee washing station staff and interfacing between different departments to ensure smooth operations. They will build and maintain operational systems pursue new business opportunities manage support staff and ensure quality assurance in product placement and delivery. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for maintaining records analyzing reports and minimizing costs across all activities. This role requires a strong understanding of coffee industry standards and certification processes along with the ability to manage relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain operational management systems for CAFERWA Ltd. i.e HR software ERP software.
  • Maximize the potential of staff through effective management and development.
  • Supervise processes across all departments to ensure seamless operation and quality control.
  • Analyze daily weekly and monthly reports from all production and support departments.
  • Ensure quality assurance in the delivery of Caferwa products and services.
  • Propose and implement changes in products services and policies based on analysis of results and competitive developments.
  • Investigate and resolve operational issues preparing SOPs Certifications and licenses
  • Maintain accurate records for stock i.e green coffee roasted beans packaging and dispatch products.
  • Minimize operational costs and contribute to the overall profitability of the company.
  • Foster a proactive and positive workplace culture focused on growth and efficiency.
  • Shadow the Managing director in his absence
  • Liaise with Group HR to handle employeerelated concerns
  • Oversee general entrance and upkeep of company assets


Key Competencies:

  • Leadership: Ability to lead teams across multiple departments and foster a positive proactive work environment.
  • Operational Expertise: Deep understanding of coffee production processes certification standards and operational efficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency in English French and Kinyarwanda with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problemsolving: Ability to troubleshoot production issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in managing costs and maximizing profitability through effective operational strategies.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to manage employee relations and foster collaboration across departments


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Food Science or a relevant field (Master s degree in Business Management is an added advantage).
  • 1012 years of experience in an operations role within agribusiness with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Deep knowledge of the coffee industry including certification procedures legislation and best practices.
  • Solid communication skills in English French and Kinyarwanda both written and verbal
