Position Overview:

In this role our Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner will provide continuous and comprehensive healthcare services necessary for the promotion of optimal orthopedic health prevention and treatment of orthopedic conditions. This includes the assessment diagnosis and management of orthopedic disorders. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with others in the department to assure smooth flow of exceptional patient care.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Practices under protocol established for the Nurse Practitioner role consistent with organization policy and in accordance with requirement set forth by the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
  • Conducts age appropriate assessments of patients including taking medical history and physical examination.
  • Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies according to established protocols.
  • Consults with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings.
  • Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to assure operational efficiency and effectiveness and to promote consistency and continuity of care.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the clinical team patients and families.
  • Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties/activities of clinical team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Master of Science in Nursing
  • Current license to practice Nursing in the state of MS.
  • Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of MS.
  • Current prescriptive authority in the State of MS.
  • 5 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner (not including college clinicals)
  • 3 years experience in caring for patients with osteoporosis and related conditions

Other Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with employees throughout the organization.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a strong sense of customerfocus.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently within interpretive guidelines and perform effectively in a fastpaced and constantly changing environment.
