Job Description
Overview:
The role of a Video Editor is crucial in ensuring that the visual components of a project come together seamlessly. Video editors play a key role in shaping the final product and are responsible for assembling raw footage into a polished video product ready for viewing. Their work is essential in achieving the desired narrative and aesthetics of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit and assemble footage into a finished project
- Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running of the video
- Utilize software to edit video and sound
- Input music dialogue graphics and effects
- Ensure the project follows a clear storyline and is on brand
- Collaborate with the creative team to understand the requirements
- Receive and implement feedback from the team
- Stay up to date with the latest trends in video editing
- Archive and manage project files
- Meet deadlines consistently
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in film studies video production or related field
- Proven work experience as a video editor
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve
- Strong portfolio of past work
- Understanding of storytelling and narrative structure
- Knowledge of postproduction processes
- Attention to detail and a creative mind
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Strong time management skills
- Understanding of video formats and codecs
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good understanding of color grading and audio mixing
- Knowledge of motion graphics is a plus
- Flexibility to adapt to different creative styles and project requirements
