The College of Law offers four degrees: Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Economic and Business Law, Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law and Foreign Affairs, and Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) It is a world-class provider of legal education with an international reputation for quality and innovation in teaching and research whose graduates contribute positively to shaping the legal profession and society in Qatar and beyond.PositionThe College of Law at HBKU is looking to hire an Academic Officer for its LL.M. and S.J.D. programs. The officer will handle all administrative aspects of the LL.M. and S.J.D. programs, including recruiting students, as well as guiding students toward the timely completion of their theses and dissertations.Job Role Description• Develop and implement marketing and student recruitment plans for LL.M. and Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) programs in coordination with faculty and the university communications department.• Outreach to legal and other national and international professional communities to recruit students for the LL.M and S.J.D programs.• Work with faculty in selecting LL.M. and S.J.D. students and provide support and advice to students in course selection, theses or dissertations, and/or career plans.• Work with the Dean, graduate programs committee (GPC), curriculum committee, and faculty program coordinators of both LL.M. and S.J.D. programs in managing the respective programs, including achieving coherence and consistency across them, and tracking all information regarding tuition, scholarships, etc., for the relevant degree program.• Coordinate and interface with the Office of the Registrar, Office of Admissions, HBKU Finance, and others to review the status of potential and matriculated LL.M. and S.J.D. students as well as for their relevant financial support.• Contribute to university and college reporting, including preparing relevant reports.• Facilitate special projects and initiatives in the LL.M. and S.J.D programs and related fields to support budget preparation and review, including obtaining approvals and ensuring good implementation and that objectives are achieved.• Develop and maintain a database of student contact information, and as to the S.J.D. students, manage and track tuition waivers.• Collect/compile LL.M. and S.J.D. student data and profiles for student tracking for accreditation and to provide information to the Alumni Office.• Develop, update, and coordinate alumni-related activities, student handbook, class schedule, catalog, etc. for the college.• Work with Academic Affairs Specialist regarding academic affairs aspects of the programs.• Coordinate with the J.D. Academic Officer and all faculty.• Other reasonable tasks as assigned by the GPC, Curriculum Committee, Program Coordinators, and Dean, including research.Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience• Bachelor's degree (preferably law) with 2-5 years of relevant full-time work experience, preferably in a legal environment.• Excellent knowledge of data assessment, interpretation, evaluation, and reporting.• Excellent knowledge of policies, procedures, systems, and work methods.• Excellent organizational and planning skills.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.• Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit various written reports and communications and articulate ideas clearly and concisely.• Proficiency in MS Office applications.How to ApplyTo apply, please follow this linkAdditional documents may be solicited from short-listed candidates.DeadlineApplications will be reviewed immediately and continue on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
