Summary of Role:
Raytheon UK, Glenrothes are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join the CCA Manufacturing support business area.
Process Engineers are primarily focused on Manufacturing equipment and process integrity, effectiveness, and efficiency. They take ownership for process & equipment performance, driving continuous improvements and addressing quality issues throughout the manufacturing process.
Working in a high reliability, low volume / high mix environment, the Senior Process Engineer will liaise with internal customers such as Design, NPI, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams in order to understand drawing / build requirements.
Attention to detail, excellent communication, organizational skills, and an innovative approach will contribute to success within the role. The desired candidate will be able to work in a dynamic team environment, handling multiple parallel complex tasks at any given time.
Applicants with significant experience of "Similar but not identical" named systems / platforms are invited to apply. Training will be provided where necessary to port existing knowledge to Raytheon specific systems as long as base knowledge exists vs the process/platform area.
Main Duties:
Specific duties/responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement robust /repeatable manufacturing processes
- Ownership / responsibility of process/equipment throughout the Value Stream for the product
- Machine program generation and platform support for equipment such as Jet Dispensing systems (Glue/Solder Paste), 3D SPI, Underfill & Conformal Coating Dispensing systems ++
- Creation of Rework processes (BGA, BTC, PTH etc.)
- X-ray of PTH solder joints vs and IPC-A-610 standards
- Implementation of Engineering Change Notes (ECN's)
- DFM Analysis and collaboration with Design teams
- Drive Zero-Defect Quality levels (Mission Assurance)
- Achieve On Time Delivery targets
- Effective use of manufacturing data and analysis techniques to proactively identify and address issues, driving systemic RC/CA
- Report and maintain Process/Equipment Engineering metrics, tracking performance & yields against team KPIs and Individual Goals & Objectives
- Drive continuous improvements through the use of Best in Class and World Class Manufacturing principles
- Lead the justification, selection, implementation and qualification of new capital manufacturing equipment investment.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- Minimum of HNC in an electronics related subject (HND / Degree preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of Electronic Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Processes
- Significant (SME) experience on at least some of the platforms and processes as named above, specifically Jet Dispensing systems (Glue/Solder Paste), 3D SPI, Underfill & Conformal Coating Dispensing systems.
- Detailed SPC knowledge to control process performance
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 guidelines (including recent revision updates)
- Analytical engineer who can process data efficiently to provide solutions to problems
- Can demonstrate/contribute to improvements within the SMT process.
- Good team player who is willing to take ownership of problems and participate fully in team activities.
- Ability to mentor colleagues
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Strong knowledge of IT systems & general software Applications
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well within an established Engineering team

- Experience working in a high reliability electronic assembly environment (Defense / Medical / Aerospace)
- Mycronic My700 Experience
- Koh Young 3D SPI Experience
- Nordson Asymtek Experience (Coating/Underfill)
- PDR/PCBRM Experience
- General CCA SMT Engineering experience on platforms such as screen printers, placement machines, reflow ovens, automated inspection systems (AOI/AXI), wash processes, automated router machines etc.
- PFMEA experience
- Understands the principles of 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
- Knowledge and experience of SAP and Shopfloor data collection systems
- Flexibility to work shifts if required (would not be the norm. for this role).
- Ability to support occasional travel (training courses, trade shows etc.)
