About Us: We are launching a stateoftheart laboratory in the Houston market initially focused on molecular diagnostics with plans to expand into blood testing. Our mission is to provide cuttingedge diagnostic services to healthcare providers improving patient outcomes through accurate and timely testing.
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lab Manager to lead the operations of our new facility. The ideal candidate will be a handson leader with a strong background in molecular diagnostics capable of building and managing a highperforming team and ensuring the efficient operation of our lab. This role requires a versatile individual who can wear multiple hats including running the bench maintaining equipment and overseeing daytoday lab operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily laboratory operations ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and quality standards.
- Perform and supervise molecular diagnostic testing using advanced equipment including the Quant Studio and other related technologies.
- Build and manage a team of laboratory technicians and scientists providing mentorship training and performance evaluations.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment ensuring all instruments are in optimal working condition.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols for lab processes.
- Collaborate with senior management to plan and execute the lab s expansion into blood testing and other diagnostic services.
- Manage inventory including ordering and tracking laboratory supplies.
- Ensure the lab meets all health and safety standards and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Analyze and interpret test results ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in molecular diagnostics and laboratory technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Molecular Biology Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Handson experience with advanced molecular testing equipment including the Quant Studio.
- Strong knowledge of molecular diagnostics PCR and other related techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detailoriented with strong organizational and problemsolving abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fastpaced startup environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. CLIA CAP) and laboratory best practices.
