Reporting to:Intellectual Property Counsel
Your role in the mission:
Type One Energy are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Patent Agent to join our Intellectual Property team. The Patent Agent will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications conducting patentability and freedomtooperate analyses and supporting the overall IP strategy of the company.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics or a relatable field alongside experience in patent prosecution
- Draft and prosecute patent applications in the US and foreign jurisdictions.
- Conduct prior art searches and analyze patentability of inventions.
- Prepare responses to office actions from patent offices.
- Work closely with Engineers and Scientists to understand inventions and provide guidance on IP matters.
- Conduct freedomtooperate analyses and provide opinions on potential patent infringement.
- Assist in the development and management of the companys patent portfolio.
- Collaborate with outside counsel on various patentrelated matters.
- Stay current with changes in patent laws and regulations.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on intellectual property issues.
- Support litigation and enforcement activities as needed.
What youll need:
- Ph.D in Physics or a related field.
- Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Minimum 35 years of experience in patent prosecution preferably in a law firm or corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of US and foreign patent laws and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Detailoriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using patent databases and research tools.
