Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients. This position requires a strong background in patient care and medical office procedures. Refraction skills would be beneficial but not mandatory. Have at least 1 year of experience.
Duties:
Perform preliminary eye function testing including visual acuity color vision depth perception and other diagnostic tests
Obtain patient medical history and chief complaint
Prepare patients for examinations by dilating pupils and administering eye drops
Assist with minor surgical procedures as directed by the ophthalmologist
Educate patients on proper eye care and postoperative instructions
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health record systems
Skills:
Proficient in patient care techniques
Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus
Familiarity with Epic or other electronic health record systems
Ability to take vital signs accurately
Knowledge of aseptic technique for maintaining sterile environments
Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality
Competency in managing medical records and billing procedures
Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred
Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye
