Job Description

Job Summary

The Residential Service Technicians role is to perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment and diagnose any issues in residential homes within the guidelines established by the company and all applicable regulatory agencies. The service technician acts in a safe manner and maintains our topnotch quality customer service and satisfaction while performing their duties.

Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installs maintains and/or repairs HVAC (heating ventilation and air conditioning) systems as assigned with quality and workmanship under time guidelines and goals to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Performs routine maintenance on HVAC systems
  • Assists in the training of junior team members
  • Meets all HVAC codes
  • Works successfully with our customer care teams to ensure effective dispatching while maintaining a productive schedule without unnecessary delays
  • Completes assignments on nights and/or weekends to serve customers as needed when on call
  • Maintains a valid Texas drivers license with a clear (or Company acceptable near clear)driving record to ensure ability to travel to assigned jobs in a company vehicle
  • Maintains and upgrades skills and the latest industry technology knowledge as offered through the company by participating in and engaging in ongoing training programs
  • Maintains communication with the Residential Service Manager regarding any issues customer concerns or any obstacle that may hinder meeting the companys guidelines for customer satisfaction
  • Completes all documentation and necessary administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner to support company operations
  • Maintains appropriate and professional communication with all the companys customers while meeting or exceeding customer service quality and workmanship requirements
  • Through your own example guide other team members to delivering customer satisfaction by:
    • Maintaining safety
    • Being productive
    • Maintaining a positive attitude
  • Maintaining a clean personal appearance and good hygiene
  • Maintaining a clean neat wellorganized vehicle
  • Showing quality workmanship
  • Utilizes problemsolving skills and constructive solutions
  • Supports the emergency oncall schedules
  • Works with Residential Service Manager to develop a skills development plan
  • Keeps approved appropriate logs of refrigerants
  • Supports the oncall installation schedules
  • Works MonFriday with ability and willingness to work a rotating oncall schedule during weeknights and weekends as scheduled
  • Works as needed and requested by supervisor / management in emergency
  • HVAC situations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification and TDLR Registration
  • High School Diploma GED and/or a certification from an accredited technical school
  • Handson residential HVAC field experience for 2 years or more

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to
    • Bend or twist body 90 degrees in either direction
    • Stand on all surfaces for long periods of time
    • Work in tight uncomfortable spaces such as hot attics
    • Squat and touch floor with hands
    • Use hands to handle control or feel objects tools and/or controls
    • Climb ladder scaffolds and/or poles safely
    • Use repetitive motions
    • Walk and/or run for long periods of time
    • Lift up to 50 lbs. in addition to body weight
    • Reach over head with ease
    • Access rooftops with extension or fixed ladders at heights of up to 50 feet as needed
    • Complete job with safety in mind for all involved and communicate any issues to the assigned SME that could lead to safety concerns prior to completing tasks
    • Work long hours during peak heating and cooling seasons
