The Boston based EdTech startup Matrix Holograms spunout from Massachallenges IBM mentorship program in Spring 2022. Founded by Stephanie Soetendal in November 2022 with one goal: to democratize an elite education and deliver it at scale through AI powered Holographic avatars.
Matrix Holograms is an AI software service at its core. The interactive AI functionalities of Matrix allows students to have the same experience as they would with a worldclass human tutor.
The purpose of democratizing access to highquality education drives Matrix Holograms. The organization aims to make individualized learning experiences typically reserved for the top 1% accessible to all students in public schools across the United States and developing nations. By leveraging AIdriven holographic technology Matrix Holograms seeks to create an interactive and engaging learning environment that transcends traditional educational barriers ultimately empowering students and contributing to global educational equity.
The purpose of the Machine Learning Engineer role at Matrix Holograms is to advance the organizations technological capabilities by developing and optimizing machine learning models that power its innovative holographic solutions. Part of this role is the development of our course creation management systems avatars and organization of data in our administrative dashboard. Further chatbot development (we already have our basic one). Chatbot development would include prompt engineering and analyzing data to finetune the model. Communicate with ITs of the two schools in Chile for the pilot program for any technical bugs feedback etc.

Work schedule aligns with Eastern Standard Time (EST) but can also accommodate to PST.
This role is a remote independent contractor position.
Estimated workload of 90 hours per month with hourly payment.
The position offers the potential for growth within the organization including the possibility of transitioning to a fulltime role after 2 months performance review and advancing to a leadership position.
The project is currently in its pilot phase but will market in Q3 2025 in Chile and the US.
Proficiency in English is required (B2C1) as well as fluency in Spanish.
