UNIX Systems Engineer - Contract

Our client has a client looking for a Unix Systems Engineer to join their team in Salt Lake City UT. The UNIX Systems Engineer will be responsible to help manage servers running Solaris AIX and Linux operating systems in a 24/7 data center. This role analyzes and resolves problems associated with UNIX server hardware and virtualization hypervisors. The UNIX Systems Engineer also performs installations and upgrades to UNIX operating systems.

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or other related field and 2 years of experience with VMware virtualization technologies system management tools logical file systems systems maintenance in a mixed operating systems datacenter environment and client/server environments or other directly related experience
  
• 35 years of experience
  
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Linux server operating systems Active Directory integration and control of user permissions with Linux native tools such as sudoers
  
• Effectively communicate problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to internal customers and management
  
• Extensive knowledge of RHEL 7 8 9 operating systems with knowledge of systems maintenance experience in a datacenter environment
  
• Knowledge of Information Technology infrastructure components (firewall database operating system network
  
• Problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions
  
• Strong IT server platform configuration management and diagnostic skills
  
• Strong knowledge of system management tools logical file systems and client/server environments
  
• Understanding of TCP/IP networks/topology storage and LAN/WAN systems and applications as well as their dependencies
  

Requirements

• Experience with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)
  
• Experience with VMWare vCenter or vSphere platforms helpful
  
• Provision/configure required security and configuration settings onto servers using TrueSight Automation and Ansible or other scripting methods
  
• Know how to use native add on tools and thirdparty tools to troubleshoot malfunctions optimizations; Tools include Resource Kits Development Kits and commercial tools
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education qualifications certifications experience skills seniority location performance union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
