Senior Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

The Senior Staff Accountant will play a critical role in the finance department responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records ensuring compliance with accounting principles and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. The ideal candidate is detailoriented has strong analytical skills and is capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• General Ledger Management:
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for various accounts including accruals prepayments and adjustments.
• Financial Reporting:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare detailed reports on financial performance including variance analysis.
• Accounts Payable and Receivable:
  • Oversee and process accounts payable and receivable transactions ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Reconcile and analyze accounts receivable aging reports and manage collections as needed.
• MonthEnd and YearEnd Close:
  • Participate in the monthend and yearend closing processes including account reconciliations accruals and financial statement preparation.
  • Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors during financial audits.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Analyze budget variances and provide insights to management for decisionmaking.
• Tax Compliance:
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns ensuring compliance with local state and federal regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of corporate tax returns and other taxrelated filings.
• Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the accounting function.
  • Develop and document accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with deadlines.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
• 35 years of experience in accounting or finance preferably in a senior or staff accountant role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks SAP Oracle Famous etc.) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in manufacturing agriculture or construction.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Experience with financial audits and tax filings.
