Job Description

To maintain the overall goals and objectives of the preschool.

Ensure the Wellness health and safety of children daily by greeting each child when they arrive at the preschool.

Assist daily classroom and outdoor activities.

Assists children to use bathroom facilities safely by supervising the essential group visits to the bathroom and training in proper hygiene habits.

Assists at mealtime by eating with the children.

Assists group teacher in maintaining a safe clean environment for the children by cleaning the center thoroughly with other staff members.

Ensures compliance with Federal State and Local Licensing requirements by recording attendance and required reports pertaining to the group when the Teacher is absent.

Maintain technical knowledge by attending staff meetings workshops conferences and regular inservice training.

Contributes to team effort by completing related tasks as needed.

Focus on positive behavior: use of loud demeaning language is forbidden by any adult. System. Substitute teacher. When teacher.

Requirements

Hazards: The possible hazards during work performed:

* This position is medium in nature according to standards set by the U.S. Department of Labor.

* This position is classified as to exposure category II concerning occupational exposure to Hepatitis B and HIV as defined by the Department of Health and Human Services.

* The employee is required to use bleach solution and disinfectants for sanitizing purposes and latex gloves for any exposure unexpected to blood or bodily fluid discharge.

* Classified as category II because of routine tasks involving no exposure to blood body fluids or tissues but employment may require performing unplanned tasks requiring exposure to blood body fluids or tissues.

* Tasks may include:

o Physical contact with sick children

o unplanned contact with children during emergency situations and unplanned contact with contaminated objects.



Requirements:

* Preferred Para Pro exam or 60 College credits.

* Preference given to those with six (6) months experience in group setting for children under six (6) years of age.

* Commitment to working in a style consistent with the Quaker values of equality integrity simplicity and nonviolent conflict resolution.

Commitment/experience in working with culturally diverse communities/families and the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
