Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detailoriented and organized Bookkeeping Clerk to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records processing transactions and assisting with various accounting tasks. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes and requires a high level of accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record daytoday financial transactions and complete the posting process.
  • Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct daybook supplier ledger customer ledger and general ledger.
  • Reconcile bank accounts by comparing statements with the general ledger.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing account information.
  • Process invoices receipts and payments in a timely manner.
  • Assist with payroll processing as needed.
  • Handle correspondence and communication with vendors and clients regarding billing and payments.
  • Support the Accounting Manager with monthend and yearend close processes.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as required to support the accounting department.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an Associates degree in accounting finance or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven 2 years of experience as a Bookkeeping Clerk or in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in the industry of manufacturing agriculture or construction is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks Xero Famous etc.) and MS Office particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and ability to perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
