Location Requirement:

As required by manager and as needed for work at any of the WMATA locations specified:

Primary Washington DC: 300 7th Street SW Washington D.C. 20024.

Secondary New Carrolton MD: 4100 Garden City Dr Hyattsville MD 20785.

Secondary Alexandria VA: 2401 Mill Road Alexandria VA. 22314.

Other WMATA facility (in the Metro DC area) that a COTR may specify.

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Job Description:

• We are looking for a Software Developer to develop and maintain software to meet project specifications.
• This position will be a fulltime hybrid contract.

What Youll Do:

• Converts project specifications using flowcharts and diagrams into sequence of detailed instructions and logical steps; and codes language that can be processed by computer applying knowledge of computer programming techniques and computer languages
• Prepares or receives flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps program must follow and to describe logical operations involved in program
• Develops designs and tests logical structure for solving problems by computers
• Updates repairs modifies and expands existing program functionalities
• Analyzes reviews and rewrites programs to increase operating efficiency or to adapt program to new requirements
• Analyzes workflow chart and diagram applying knowledge of computer capabilities subject matter and symbolic logic
• Designs computer terminal screen displays to accomplish goals of user request
• Confers with supervisor and representatives of departments concerned with program to resolve questions of program intent data input output requirements and inclusion of internal checks and controls

What Youll Need Required:

• Bachelors degree in information technology public administration management information systems or a related field from an accredited college or university
• Minimum 5 years of prior experience as a software developer
• Experience with Java NetBeans Jira Oracle Database IBM Jazz
• Experience managing multiple priorities
• Strong communication and followup skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal state and local standards
• Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office or to other offices to attend meetings etc.
• Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer utilizing a mouse keyboard and monitors
