Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Location: Baker LA

Position Overview: The School District is seeking a qualified and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team. The Occupational Therapist will provide therapy services to students with disabilities helping them to develop recover and improve the skills needed for daily living and academic success. This role involves working closely with students teachers parents and other educational professionals to create individualized therapy plans that address the unique needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students physical sensory and cognitive abilities.
    • Identify students needs and determine appropriate interventions to support their educational goals.
    • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the IEP team including teachers parents and other specialists.
  2. Therapy Services:

    • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students focusing on improving fine motor skills sensory processing and daily living activities.
    • Design and implement therapy activities that support students participation in the classroom and school environment.
    • Adapt and modify school environments tools and materials to accommodate students individual needs.
  3. Consultation and Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with teachers special education staff and other related service providers to support student learning and wellbeing.
    • Provide consultation and training to staff on topics such as adaptive equipment classroom accommodations and strategies for supporting students with disabilities.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to share progress and provide strategies for supporting students at home.
  4. Documentation and Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate and uptodate records of assessments therapy sessions and student progress.
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to special education and occupational therapy services.
    • Prepare reports documentation and progress notes as required by the school district and governing bodies.
  5. Program Development:

    • Assist in developing and implementing schoolwide programs and initiatives to promote physical health motor development and sensory integration.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices and advancements in occupational therapy.
    • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to occupational therapy services within the school district.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid Louisiana Occupational Therapist license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Experience working with children in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students parents teachers and other professionals.

Work Schedule:

  • Fulltime position following the academic calendar.
