With a growing corporate client base (350 and counting) our diverse team is headquartered in Paris and operates out of our 13 global offices in North America Europe Australia Singapore Hong Kong and Japan. Descartes is trusted by a panel of Arated (re)insurers to carry out its activities.

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

As part of our strong growth especially in the USA market we are looking for anInnovation & Data Owner to reinforce the Innovation & data team in the R&Ddepartment.
In order to support the improvement of our current risk modeling capabilities and ourproduct offering we handle a vast portfolio of data coming from diverse sourcessuch as satellite meteorological stations IoT sensors and radar.

Your tasks will include :

• Be owner of one or several data (radar satellite weather stations etc.) andsensor partners with a special focus on the US market and followup productsbuilt with these partners:
  • In charge of the contractual and business relationship with our datapartners used for pricing and claims settlements;
  • Support or coordinate the installation process of IoT sensors in differentterritories to provide a smooth experience for clients and partners;
  • Get to know in depth all technical business and legal aspects related toour insurance product (wording data used for the development of riskassessment and claim evaluation models used..);
  • Support the innovation roadmap in partnership with all stakeholders(strategy sales underwriting modeling legal..);
  • Envisage technological evolutions to further strengthen our productoffering by actively following up technological developments.
• Contribute to our technology and innovation watch as to remain at theforefront of our industry;
• Work autonomously and pragmatically to make appropriate technicaldecisions;
• Work closely with modelers underwriters and business developers tounderstand their needs;
• Source new data and sensor partners for our current and future products;
• Take on responsibilities as both you and the company develop.

ABOUT YOU

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduated from an Engineering School or equivalent (e.g. generalmechanical civil etc.) with a specialization in business;
• From 0 to 2 years of experience (internships or/and apprentice) in businessand/or data related;
• A previous experience in insurance and/or data is valued.

SKILLS

• Rigorous team spirit and strategic and structured thinker;
• Excellent communication skills (be able to transmit expectations and needs ofthe company);
• Good interpersonal skills;
• Fluency in English is required (written and verbal; native English speaker highlyvalued);
• Ability to synthesize complex or technical topics to nontechnical audience.
